Product Review: Personalized Children's Audio CDs and Books

When it comes to music collections offered, I'm a skeptic. When it comes to marketing a religious product, I take my family's experience pretty personal.

I was contacted and contracted a little over a week ago about reviewing a product line from Personalizedstories.com. They offer a number of products in both book and audio form that are personalized with a child's name and other information provided by a customer. They're better known as personalized childrens books...or CDs. Which EVER! :)

I was reminded of order catalogs my mother used to get years ago, and of second rate gift items that were honestly of lesser value than what's found in today's 'Plastic-Mart' stores. So, I went with the "Jesus Loves You" song CD. My family has a deep background and knowledge in both classical, contemporary, and modern songs of worship. This would help me determine whether or not this was a fly by night operation slapping MP3s onto CDs or not.

I placed my order like any other customer, and the item arrived just a few days ago. Turnaround time was pretty good, since it looked like it came from New England to me in Florida.

Opening the package I spotted the CD, it's lower part reading "TO NANCY, With Love, Care, and Hope From Mommy and Daddy". Lettering and capitalization all as posted with no errors. The CD itself a Memorex product, the label appearing to be affixed as opposed to an internal label in the CD. The label was properly centered, with no bubbles or abnormalities.

Rather than go further, I called my daughter after putting it back in it's case. She's smart, so when she looked at the label she gave me a 'what are you up to' look.

Turning, she went off to blab to her big sister what she had...and that was the end of the sibling rivalry.

What happened next was nice. My two pests were heard giggling for a half an hour listening to the CD in their room. Halfway through, my daughter came and asked me "Do you know those people?", was it 'this' pop star, was it 'that' pop star? My girls are pretty shrewd and can tell 'posers'...this collection was definately top notch in their book.

The fact of hearing the person on the CD talking just to her was a shock, and caused more attention to be had than any other CD she's received.

So, yeah...this is definately a keeper. While I chose the faith based CD, Personalizedstories.com has a number of choices from Elmo, Care Bears, The Wiggles, and many other great selections. If you're looking for a great gift from a good vendor, then you should check out this vendor.

My rank for them: 9 out of 10. They didn't offer anything for me with Kathy Ireland saying MY name!
