Getting From Shelter To Home: Don't Rest On Your Laurels

One of the things I pick up on from a number of families that break out of the homeless system is the 'complacency syndrome'. They've just gotten through a major setback in life, and all too often don't concentrate further on planning. Most of the families I know personally 'getting out' put a lot of hard work and effort in getting a new home, even when at times being assisted by agencies.

It's hard work, and not everyone's going to own their own home one day. It takes dedication, accountability, and planning skills that many people don't have. For those that do, don't think paying off the bills to the house, electric, and car will be enough.

When you're gone, you'll be leaving your spouse or children with a pretty big bill. One that they probably don't want. Maybe they'll want to move on and out into their own home. A good plan when looking to the future for anyone going 'homeless to home' is to include learning about what a mortgage life insurance is, and the protection it affords.

The only other thing as important as this for anyone getting a new start in life?

Retain a family lawyer who can handle the times when the life insurance needs to be handled. It won't help you rest any easier than you will be, but it'll help your loved ones...and you know it.
