Tools For New Site Owners

More and more bloggers I know are making the dip into getting their own served sites. That's commendable, but when they see many available scripts they can implement they get lost. One problem is in forums.

An online forum takes much effort to build, moderate, and can be really distracting from the original blog when it gets off topic. Another problem is whatever goes on in the forum, DOESN'T stay in the forum. Just like your blog, a forum you create WILL be spider searched by Yahoo and other engines.
Translation: You get a snert creating an image of stupidity, it could be your brand if not caught in time for it to be cached for posterity.
One option I've stressed to many people new to hosting their own full service site is to try free chat rooms. Chat can't be tracked by search engines, at least from any install or platform I've seen...they're not textual like...like this entry here!

The benefit of having a chat room on your site is the ability to redirect welcomed guests who want to hang out and gab with other regulars. 'Knee jerking' can be seen as 'friendly' in a forum thread amongst members, but it takes the subject off track too much.

Wanna get it back on the right path, give 'em a place to go let off steam, smile, or do whatever unmentionables people do in cyber...space.
