The HOTTEST Day Of The Year

Major heat today at work for me, while my wife had to take two of the kids to the doctor before school starts. Some people take for granted the simple things, until they can't do without them.

Water's like that. Without it, you die. I remember when my family was still using floor space before we got a room at the local shelter. It was during this time in 2004. I honestly relied on everything I was taught in the military, with it coming immediately to mind at times. One thing I couldn't find in the downtown area were portable water filters. The nearest place something similiar was too far a walk in the heat, and without funds you're stuck.

Pottable water isn't always available when you're on the streets, contrary to what people claim. Meal lines at shelters for people staying 'outside' only provide what's handed usually. Access to inside these locations isn't permitted by people not residing there. Once businesses with public access restrooms close for the night, you're stuck with whatever you managed to put in jugs.

That's survival. Without putting it through a filter, you could literally be letting everything slip away you tried to put in yourself to survive.
